Concrete cubes measuring mm ( in) on each side were cast with kg/m 3 ( lb/yd 3) of the RILEM standard cement (CEM I R), with a water to cement ratio of and an air content of 2% by nce studs were fixed to each specimen in order to obtain field expansion measurements. This paper reports an experimental investigation on the mechanical and durability properties of concrete using dredged marine sand (DMS). Two sources of DMS were used and the influence of water treatment prior to mixing concrete was studied. Compressive strength, tensile strength and elastic modulus of concrete with DMS were evaluated and compared with concrete made of river : Wai Ching Tang, Hong Zhi Cui.

Cliffe Fort is a disused artillery fort built in the s to guard the entrance to the Thames from seaborne attack. Constructed during a period of tension with France, it stands on the south bank of the river at the entrance to Cliffe Creek in the Cliffe marshes on the Hoo Peninsula in North location on marshy ground caused problems from the start and necessitated changes to its Type: Fortification. aggregates, where much of the fine material is washed out by the dredging (Prentice, ). Disadvantageous features are the presence of salts -halite [NaCl]- and shell fragments. Halite is a non-desirable constituent in the construction materials, so the sea-dredged aggregates have to be washed out with freshwater, before use.

A Supplier of Sea Dredged Aggregate, Stone and Sand. In Joseph Bowles, a left school. He had decided at this young age to go into business for himself, hauling sand from Cardiff Docks, where it was delivered, to various locations around the City. Sand (primarily silica) is used in construction as a component in various materials like concrete, mortar etc. Definitely the salts adsorbed (dissolution might not actually occur) on sand are going to affect the durability in reinforced concrete.

In this paper the basic facts about marine aggregates are considered in relation to the requirements of BS Structural use of concrete, of the latest guidelines to prevent ASR, and of BS which all aggregates from natural sources must pass to be acceptable for structural reinforced concrete.

According to Newman the effect of the size fraction of aggregates on the workability of concrete made with sea-dredged aggregates will depend primarily on the size fraction of the sand and its uniformity.

About Aggregates Aggregates are a granular material used in most common natural aggregates of mineral origin are sand, gravel and crushed rock.

An end-product in themselves as railway ballast or armourstones, aggregates are also a raw material used in the manufacture of other vital construction products such as ready-mixed concrete (made of 80% aggregates), pre-cast products.
